We couldn't leave without visiting a Souk or two! First rip off of the day, caught the Hotel Taxi - the fare was 50 dirhams, he only had limited change so it cost us 60 dirhams. The taxi back, caught from the street, cost 16.50.
Second rip off of the day - this could be a trend, we visited the Spice Souk - and Andy purchased some saffron and some vanilla pods, both of which will probably be confiscated by Customs in Australia. See the picture of the nice man with the grin on his face. Andy looks a little like he has been "got"
The Gold Souk was a bit overwhelming, about 50 shop fronts all with sparkly things in them. Nothing took my fancy.
The best buy was a couple of scarves. And yes, Kurt, your first T-shirt has the words Dubai on it :-)
Andy at the crossroads with all the souks
Off to the airport now, see ya!

Yes, Andy does look a little uncomfortable. Pleased to see that the "nice man with the grin on his face" has his hand resting safely on Andy's shoulder ;-). Friends brought vanilla pods from Bali and were allowed to bring them through Oz customs because they were commercially labelled and packaged. You'll have to show Andy how to use the camera so we can see some shots of you too :D
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, nice to hear from you - I am in the shots in Birmingham. lol
